It seems questions like this keep popping up over and over and over on the newsgroup. Why is it that so many people want to run Oracle in untested, uncertified and unsupported configurations ?

Each Oracle release is certified to run on specific version(s) of specific operating system(s). If you insist on running Oracle on a specific version of an OS, then get the release of Oracle that is tested, certified and supported for that version of the OS.

I sincerely doubt that when you asked Oracle support services this same question they gave you a recommendation to run Oracle 7.3.4 on Windows 2000. Especially since 7.3.4 is not going to be supported after the end of this year, just 32 short days away.
