I think you're right on this business about filesystem calls. I've just been playing with the Oracle ODBC Test application (8.1.6 on W2K) and sure enough it prompts for the ODBC source, and when you say you want Access, up pops a Windows Explorer-type navigator so you can click on the relevant mdb. After that, you can do your standard SQL calls, but it all seems rather pointless -sort of like opening an Access database with a crippled version of Access! But yes, point-and-click to the mdb filoe seems the name of the game.

This I have done (via VBA, I mean). Sort of. Usual sort of thing -the On-Click event of an Access button calls an Append Query (all my tables having previously been linked -but even that can be done in VB, on the fly). Wouldn't be too hard to move the thing into the On Timer event, and have it transfer every 15 minutes, or whatever. Regards HJR
