It depends on your personality. I find that Oracle is very complex, but not difficult to learn. Others find Oracle to be so complex that they don't bother trying to understand it. If your primary interest in learning Oracle is to make money, there are other jobs in the IT field that will be less difficult and make you the same amount of money.

To be a good DBA (and hence, make a lot of money) you have to love Oracle. This means that you will often work long hours, deal well with situations that make you pull your hair out, and spend most of your free time educating yourself and keeping current. I mean, it's Sunday morning, I just dialed in to check backups, verified that the import I started yesterday finished without error and now I am browsing the Oracle newsgroup. When I am done here, I have to go spend time with the family(my *non-oracle* family, that is)
