I hadn't come across that one - the
nominal limit is the normal nominal size of a 38 digit integer.

There was a bug at one stage with parallel queries where the sequence supplying the ORA_TQ_BASE$ value had to be reset
because the PQ slave code couldn't handle ids in excess of a few million - perhaps this is the one you've heard of.
