What position is he offering exactly? If you're the prime DBA person and you haven't got RDBMS knowledge then you need lot's of help in the beginning.
I'm thinking of hiring people to set up the site and after half a year you can do
the day to day stuff and gradually take over. Maximum exposure to the subject recommended : Use the course, Luke.

If you haven't got other (senior)DBA's around then the task is too big. Image little you called in the middle of the night that the system is down and you are sweating behind the terminal trying to revive it all, but you don't really know what you're doing. Have a nice day :-)
