Replication Upgrade 7.3.4 to 8.1.6

I am shortly to upgrade a system from 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.1.6. The system has a large quantity of replicated objects which isn't likely to cause a problem. However there are a number of triggers which have had conditions applied to them which can't be done under 8.1.6 due to the internalisation of the the Oracle generated triggers and packages.

Has anyone overcome this problem without the need to create views and other triggers in order to reproduce the required functionality. If so could you give me some advice on the way forward.

Does anyone have any other advise to offer on upgrading Oracle with regards to the above versions numbers and pitfalls to watch out for in upgrading replication features.
