proc on 805 installation problems - PCC-F-NOERRFILE

Hi all,

We are using Oracle 734, and 805 on Sun 2.6. I have the databases running fine. Currently, I'm installing proc on top of 805.

It installs cleanly enough, but, when I run just the proc command, I get:

$ proc
PCC-F-NOERRFILE, unable to open error message file, facility PR2

This is odd, because at a previous position, this used to give me a list of options. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

We currently do not have the Sun issue cc compiler, and have been trying to use gcc. So far, I have found lots of Sun specific flags in the various makefiles, and have tried commenting them out but have had no success yet. Is it possible to use gcc instead of cc with proc? Or, will the brass just have to buy the Sun compiler?

Thanks,

Argosy
