The current box is running fine under 7.3 with 784M. The Oracle SGA is set to 64M. Hit ratios are excellent.
I read in the 8.1.6 installation guide a minimum requirement of 128M. I remember when doing the 7.3 installation adding 1M per user process for memory calculations. They do not mention this in the 8.1.6 guide. There are/were 50 users. I am not sure what the Solaris OS takes up in memory.
Any rule of thumb for how I could make sure to order adequate memory on the new machine?
