Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle 8i client-only install?
Hello,
Please excuse the cross-post to the two groups, but I was not sure which group this question would fall under.
We have a server (SunOS 5.8/Sparc) that is a dedicated Oracle server box. We have various other machines that are web-server clients. We would like to use Oracle from one of these machines, but cannot find a 'client-only' install. We have made it work on an in-house testing machine by copying libs until the DBD::Oracle install worked, but that is a TOTAL hack, not a production-level solution.
The question is, is there a way to do a 'real' client install, that will install what a machine needs to run things like sqlplus and install DBD::Oracle, but doesn't install the full server software?
Also, is there an archive of this newsgroup?
Thank you.
