The conversion from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 is more accurately called an UPGRADE. When you go from one major revision (say Oracle 7) to another major revision (say Oracle 8), then you are migrating.

To Upgrade, it's a simple procedure. Install the new software. Start the database with the new software. Run a simple upgrade script (supplied).

But the most important instruction is to find the Upgrade/Migrate guide which is located on the distribution media. Failure to read and understand this guide before doing any upgrades or migrations can result in major catastrophes.
