Yuor best option would be a DB run in Archive mode, this way you can do
"hot" backups i.e the DB is still running and you back up the Tablespaces
individually. This way you don't have to shut down the db, if you are
currently in NOARCHIVE mode then you must change the init parameter to
archive mode select the archive log dest. shut down take a full backup and
restart with the new init parameters
