external storage devices are all pricey...
i just finished a thorough evaluation of a number of different units (emc symmetrix, emc clariion, sun, network appliance and xiotech) and i was awfully impressed by clariion. the clariion system was reasonably (?) priced, and offered top-of-the-line functionality. in addition, since they were acquired by emc they can offer the same service levels.
