Go into svrmgrl (UNIX) and 8.1.5 on NT, or svrmgr30 (NT 8.05), then 'connect internal', then 'show parameter background_dump_dest', then 'show parameter user_dump_dest'. The background dump dest will show the location of the alert.log and trace files for background processes. The user dump
dest parameter will show the location of user trace files. Hope this helps.
