Just a few notes.
1 I use PO Oracle 8i on win 98, definitely NO listener
2 "All sql stuff through the listener" This statement is incorrect. The only
thing the listener does is act as a broker and start an appropiate server
process. Try stopping the listener after you connect to your database, you
will notice you still will be able to work.
3 Because of the architecture of Windose, all protocols you mention will
ultimately get automatically converted to netbeui, even TCP/IP. This will
change with win2000 where Microsux desupported and removed the netbeui
protocol in favor of tcp/ip.
