Oracle8i client on NT4: stuff missing

After trying to install Oracle8i 8.1.6 client on our NT 4.0 box a couple of times I'm stumped.

We have Oracle8i running on our Linux box so all we want to install on our NT machine is the client. The Universal Installer works its way through the Custom install of the 8.1.6 client stuff, and finishes without any apparent errors. Unfortunately, the install actually fails --- some client stuff is not installed at all (such as Net8 Assistant, etc,) and some NT registry entries are not made.

What might I have failed to do with the client install?

By the way, is there any way to get the client for NT without having to load the entire Oracle8i for NT package just to be able to select the client to install? Both Sybase and DB2 have a very small and simple client install.     Received on Thu Mar 23 2000 - 00:00:00 CST
