This sounds like what I see a lot because we use HP and Sun boxes and move databases between them. On Sun the sys admin people have to set some kernel parameters like shmmax plus maybe some similar, and re-boot the machine. AFAIK shmmax has to be = or > variable part of SGA, but we just thought of a big number. Hope this is some use.
