Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Re: Checking Oracle Certification
Part of the problem, is that I have occasionally been asked to examine just the resume of a candidate and provide an initial assessment. I don't have the opportunity to ask the prospective candidate to produce even a wallet-sized card or show a pin.
In one case, I believe a consulting company claimed that one of their consultants was dba certified for Oracle 8i when in fact the consultant was not. When I actually met the consultant, it was clear he couldn't have passed any of the certification exams. At one point he was even asking others how to start up SQL*Plus and drawing a blank when he was asked to select something from dual. Luckily he had other skills which could be used.
It would be convenient if Oracle or Sylvan provided a list of the people who were certified. It might encourage more people to get certified just to get on the list.
