Oracle8i on SCO Unixware 7.1.0

Hi

Ive just installed oracle8i onto a SCO unixware 7.1.0 server.

Im also totally new to oracle, so please bear with me.

When I start oracle, I get the following message :-

SQL> open of async device failed. Permission denied.

Problem is I dont know what its referring to !

Any pointers would be most useful.
