As a matter of fact, SYSTEM can own objects. Some of the replication / AQ tables end up being owned by SYSTEM, though I've never seen an explanation of why. Also, SYSTEM is the owner of the PRODUCT_USER_PROFILE table, that all every DBA creates if only to get rid of the annoying table not found message on login to SQL*Plus.
