HI

OK so let the O/S wars begin (again), but....

  1. do you know both NT and Solaris at admin level. If you don't have admin skills in SOlaris then you'll to hire some.
  2. SUNs cost more to start with, BUT they scale much better than NT. If
  3. is not a problem and cost is an issue then consider Linux or SOlaris on x86 as an alternative - you can move to SUN hardware later
  4. MS-Access and Oracle are in a completely different market, M$-Access is fine for low end stuff, Oracle will scale to multi-terabyte systems. Oracle is very feature rich and you'll need help to get up to speed quickly.
