I am guessing that you don't have a copy of O8 for Linux, correct? SQL*Plus, is, as far as I know, part of the O8 distribution for Linux.

Are you a member of OTN (Oracle Tech Net?) If not, sign up (it's free) at http://technet.oracle.com/ and as a benefit, you get to download "developer" copies of most of their software including all the O8 and O8i database software etc.... Install it as per the directions (PDFs).

That is the only way I know to get it.
