Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Does ORA-12203 Mean Demo Expired?
Folks:
When I try to start Personal Oracle 8 for Win95, I get the error "ORA-12203 Can not attach to Oracle8". I loaded this 60-day demo last spring, and started and stopped it a few times. I was able to start & stop it with no problems in the last couple weeks. Now, I get this error message. Is this Larry's way of saying the demo has expired, or is there something wrong here?
Personal Oracle8 8.0.3.0.0 running on the local machine, Windows95 OSR2.1 with all the latest updates.
I have been using ostart80.exe and ostop80.exe to start & stop the database with no problem. But ever since I used svrmgr to do a successful normal shutdown , I have been unable to restart the database.
From sqlnet.log:
Fatal NI connect error 12203, connecting to:
(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=BEQ)(PROGRAM=oracle80)(ARGV0=oracle80orcl)(ARGS='(DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq)))')))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=orcl)(CID=(PROGRAM=C:\ORAWIN95\BIN\OSTART80.EXE)(HOST=OBIWAN)(USER=bschalme))))
VERSION INFORMATION:
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 8.0.3.0.0 - Production Oracle Bequeath NT Protocol Adapter for 32-bit Windows: Version8.0.3.0.1 - Production
Does "Operating system resource quota exceeded" mean "Sorry Bucko, the 60-day demo has expired."?
