Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Why Oracle8i for x86 Solaris 7 installation consumed so large disk space?
Hi,
I tried to install Oracle8i Enterprise version in my PC which runs Solaris7
intel try version. I followed the installation guide, but the installation
took me 1.33 GB disk space and run out of my space. The installation guide
shows a typical server installaion only needs 694 MB harddisk space. The
first time I tried my 1.1 GB space, but failed, the second time I
reinstalled my Solaris 7 and allocated the /export/home system for 1.33 GB,
but still failed. I created an system user account called "oracle" and the
primary group for it is "oinstall". I created another two user groups called
"dba" and "osoper" separtely, but didn't give "oracle" a membership to them.
I set the $ORACLE_HOME = /export/home/oracle/product,
$PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/ccs/bin/:/usr/ucs/bin/:usr/ucb
$TMPDIR=/var/tmp and export them in the ".profile" in oracle hoem
directory.
it failed at the end of almost creating the default database.
Any advices and help are appreciated.
