Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle8i Listener problem
Hello, I recently installed Oracle8i and created a database. When I gpo
into the LSNRCTL utility and type "start" I receive the following
message:
Listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=BURKE.DLN.NGB.ARMY.MIL)) Listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=BURKE)) Listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC0)) Listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=132.79.124.15)(PORT=1521)) Listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=blackmanb_lap)(PORT=1521))Attempted to listen on: (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=blackmanb_lap) (PORT=1521))
I am trying to set up the LISTENER.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA files to have a networked database. I do not have a problem getting into the database from the machine, but I can't start the listener and therefore can't connect to the DB from ohter machines. I am not sure how to use the trace utility to find out more information about what to do with this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Burke
