hi,
thanks for your help .

sub : reducing query time for remote data transfer

i am accesing remote table(on oracle 8 server) with a query based on one of the columns which

  1. is not a primary key
  2. contineously updated
  3. has 4 static values

i cannot partition the table on this column because the column is being contineously updated.
should the partition on primary key help ?

would an index help
which type of indexes should i use..?
will a bitmap index be a better option

your help would be very valuable..
thanking you
narayan
