ODBC Repeated Logon?

Problem Description:
3rd party system uses ODBC to connect to Oracle 7.3.4 server. Sessions are set to 200. Maximum used is 75. Application prompts for ODBC login at start up. Sporadically, the application asks for a repeated login by the end user. Provided security is authenticated by the database, the server responds and the application acts normally.

Any idea what may cause this?
