I'm about to begin a java project,
I'm using servlets on a web server machine. I have an oracle instance on another box. I want to use the jdbc thin driver.
All of this is under Solaris.

Where and how (in what directories, and pathing, etc.) do I install the jdbc thin driver.
Do I need to install net8 on the web server machine?

I assume that the oracle box which is working needs no configuration changes.

also,
How does connection pooling work from the java side through the oracle side,
How many instances of Oracle do I need to be running, how many processes,
redo logs, control files, etc. do I need?

thanks, Received on Sun Nov 07 1999 - 11:26:17 CST
