Sorry about the delay - I've been unable to connect for a week.

I believe this is a known bug in this port, not sure of the details but it may be
associated with an SGA larger than 1.7 Gb.

You may find it is quicker to delete all rows than truncate the table. (One of the features of truncate is that it flushes all of the table's blocks to disc before truncating and I think the code to do this carries the critical error).

You might try fiddling with the value of db_block_lru_latches to see if this makes any differences.
