This is a weird one. And so is the suggestion in the Oracle Message to "correct the string and re-submit it" like we have full control over what SQL*Net sends...

A shot in the dark.. have you looked at driver version incompatibilities? Maybe listener80 does not like SQL*Net 2.whatever? What does the listener trace file say btw?
