Like Jermiah said, with RMAN in Oracle 8 Oracle has finally integrated
Bcckup in his SERVER.
RMAN has it's own repository ( stored in another Instance ) Iwhich
helps you whe n recovery is necesseray.
I think Oracle has made an importan step in the correct direction.
Informix had integrated Backup since any years with Informix-Online!
