I'm coming to the conclusion that my test criterion, shutting down the listener to verify IPC access works, was wrong. I think I still need the listener to be running, regardless of the protocol I want to connect with. Even if I am on the same machine. TCP or IPC ... otherwise what process in Oracle will pick up my attempted IPC
connection?
