How do booleans work in Oracle?

Hi:

I have many applications which use Access through ODBC. In Access I have some fields defined as boolean. When converting these databases to Oracle, the boolean fields are turned into number fields.

This causes me a lot of trouble, because my applications are querying the databases with 'True/False' values for the boolean fields. Is there some way I can make Oracle deal with the 'True/False' values for a number field like if they were '0/1', or do I have to modify manually all my applications ?

    Thanks a lot,
