Oracle backups on AIX

Hi,



I'm running Oracle 8.0.5.1 on AIX.  In my backup scripts, I perform a
loop that places tablespaces in backup status and then tars my datafiles
to tape.  In AIX, I believe I have to issue the /dev/rmt0.1 in order to
prevent the tape from rewinding.



I want to make sure I am thinking correctly.  Any examples are quite
welcome.
