Tools to verify Oracle exports and offline backups

What are some reliable methods to validate the integrity of Oracle
7.3.4 exports and off line backups?


We have tried using DB_VERIFY (dbverf73.exe) but have heard this is not
adequate to verify offline backups.


For exports we have used IMPORT with the show option.
Are there other tools to validate the integrity of exports or off line
backups?
