There is also a property you can set ('Automatic Refresh') to force the LOV to requery each time it is used. Make sure that you turn this off (unless you need the LOV to change its contents each time you use it) - this will still result in a slow response the first time you use the LOV in the Form, but a near instant response thereafter. An LOV's contents seem to be kept in memory until the Form is exited.
