y2k: Any news about setting system clock backwards?

Some weeks ago we have been commissioning the supplier of our stock administration system to make it y2k-ready. In the meantime there are doubts that it will succeed (missing sources etc.). So there are discussions to set the system clock backwards 4 or 8 years to avoid the millenium change.

Are there knowledges or experiences about that? We have HP-UX 9.04/SCO UNIX System V/386 Rel. 3.2v4.3 and Oracle 7.1.3/7.0.15, and there are no interconnections with other systems. It's clear to start the machine with the new old date, and probably set the time stamp of all newer files to that date. Where could be traps in that plan?

All opinions are appreciated.
