You will get lots of opinion on this subject, but you have to stick to the
facts.
Now for the opinion:
I personally like to mix the two different methods for my production
systems. I run in archivelog mode and tape the archived logs at least
daily. I then take an export of specific schemas at night just in case
someone drops an object inadvertantly. The exports become somewhat
irrelevent if you have adequate production controls in place, but then
again, some of us are just anal...
