Few oracle and reports 6.0 questions

Do we have to 'commit' after DDL statements have been executed?

Can i save the body of the report (Reports 6.0's .RDF file) that i have created into a template so that it can be used in other reports? Because, when i re-apply the template to a modified report, changes made are getting lost, and i do not know how to make the changes i have done to the report directly to the template.
