I've heard a lot of mixed reports on this...I tried several times to install 8i, with no success, and eventually gave up and used 8.0.5 . Out of curiosity, what distro of linux are you using with 8i? My experience so far indicates it just won't go with RedHat 6.0, however, I do not have much experience at all with Oracle, so it could just be me.
