I am in a bit of a spot here. Recently, I inherited an oracle 7.3.4 DB. On sunday the operating system (winNT) was reinstalled. Hence, all registry and instance/services settings where destroyed. This DB drives a number of internet sites. Now i am faced with the task of restoring these DB's without a proper back up or mirror to work from. Is there any way to restart a database using the existing initsid.ora and control files. I have tried to create an instance and point it at the existing init file, but when i try to log on to internal via server manager i get an insufficient permissions error. I have yet to figure out how to start the DB instance so i can log on to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! you can reply directly to me at collierj_at_tteam.com

Thanks again. Received on Tue Aug 10 1999 - 07:39:16 CDT
