Hi there.

Does anyone have experience running Oracle 7 and 8 servers at the same time, on the same machine, with success?? (Because I don't.)

(I use 7.3.4 and 8.1.5 on a Windows NT Server 4.0)

I have managed to get 7.3.4 to work, and i can access it from both 7 and 8 clients from any machine on the network. It now listens at ports 1521 and 1526. (Standard orcl SID)

The 8.1.5 however, is accessible from the local version of SQL-PLUS, but from nowhere else. I altered its listener port to 1522 in listener.ora. (Is this a problem?)

The local Net8 Assistant then gives me following error when testing my Net Service Name test8i (hostname: 127.0.0.1, port 1522, NSN test8i):

ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

Both the listeners are named LISTENER. Is this a problem?

If anyone could help me, I would be very grateful.
