Error Ora 03113, How Do I Fix it?

I need help in finding out how to fix the Ora 03113/03114 Errors on NT 4.0 platform, Oracle 8.0.4.

I need to find out if the problem resides with the Server or the Network? I know for a fact that the Network is not a good Network. But how do I find out for sure where the problem is residing?

I can connect to the database, but as soon as I begin to query the database, I receive at least the ora 03113 error.
