alert log destination changing

My alert log has changed the location that it is writting to, but I
haven't changed anything in the init.ora parameters.  I have no idea
why this has happened and it isn't really causing my any problems, I'd
just like to know why this has happened.  Any ideas would be
appreciated.  Oracle7.3 NT4 sp4.
