Check out SQR from Sqribe technologies. It was one of the first report writers for Oracle, it's been around for more than a decade (under various owners), it hits heterogeneous databases, and it allows very detailed customization programming after it's design wizards lay off.
One relevant issue I found with SQR is that once you customize the code, however, you can't get it back into the gui. (All the reporting tools I've seen have some problem with that.) Other than that, it was pretty powerful.
That said, I'm going through the same evaluation, but my environment is Oracle only. I'm leaning (heavily) towards Developer 2000 because all the tools work together, they're web-enabled (we need that), and I'm running Oracle.
If you get any good info or find any such site, please post it (if its not already posted).
