Ouch..

EOF on comms channel is a dirty one with no clear cut answers to why it occurs and how to solve it. Have experienced it myself and had it mysteriously disappear again.

The only thing I can suggest is to change from an IPC connection (if you are connecting to a local database) to a TCP/IP (i.e. listener) connection. That was one of the tricks that worked for me to circumvent the problem on one occasion.
