Logoff by Cleanup

Hi All.

Have recently upgraded a db from 7.1.6 (HPUX 10.10) to 8.04 (HPUX 11). We audit connections to keep tabs on usage & performance. In the old system everything seemed to end cleanly, but now each connection (about 5,000/hr) shows a "logoff by cleanup" message. Can anyone tell me exactly what the application is doing wrong to cause this?

Since the app was running and performance was OK, I wasn't too concerned at first. Unfortunately now it seems that whenever the app gets a 1017 - the oracle connection and calling application process get stranded out in UNIX (no longer in v$session - processes don't die). Over the course of a couple days this blows us out of processes and shared memory. The vendor (Andersen) swears its an Oracle bug, but I can't replicate the problem using SQL*Plus, VB, PB, or C. Any ideas????

TIA, Bill. Received on Sun Jun 20 1999 - 20:34:12 CDT
