No way to drop or rename column in Oracle 8?

Self - explanatory.  I know there is some kind of new functionality for
these kinds of things in Oracle 8 - maybe it's 8i?  In any case, is
there any way to do it in 8.0.5,


or is there anything new at all in regards to dropping, modifying,
renaming, columns and/or tables in 8.0.5.
