newbie question to oracle8i

hello,

i have an extremely simple question, which i don't seem to be able to solve, since i am a complete newbie to oracle and the docs are too complex to begin with.

the only thing i want to know are the exact steps what i have to do after i created a database with the configuration assistant. i have the INTERNAL and SYSTEM account (there was a third one i think) but when i login using sqlplus i can't create tables or anything because he tells me "ORA-01109: Database not opened". i can't figure out how to open it. i know it is mounted and the WinNT services are running but i must be missing something.
