Hello,

I'm trying to install the latest 8.0.5.1 version of Oracle Enteprise Server on Linux running Redhat6.0

During the install oracle re-links a number of executables.

For the executables where the gets function is being linked, 'ld' reports an error stating the 'gets' function is dangerous and should not be used. No errorcode is generated so the script keeps on running until at some point one of the executables is being run (svrmgrl) to start the database. This does'nt work because the link did'nt succeed.

Does anybody know how I can instruct ld to ignore the 'dangerous' gets function?

Please respond by mail
