.... A LIGHT COMES ON .... this is a very likely cause and will check it first thing in the morning. Since the SGA is the same size as it was under 8.0.5 then I assumed there was no new init ora parameters that were causing this, but there could be new memory structures that are effected by init.ora parameters but not part of the SGA, Thomas do you know if this is the case with the java pool ???

Thomas if this is it I owe you big time !!!!!
